Eva Cassidy at Wolf Trap-an amazing venue just outside Washington D.C. which is America’s National Park for the Performing Arts and is incredibly beautiful. She died in 1996 of skin cancer so I’ll never have the opportunity to see her live. My husband introduced me to her music and I’ll be forever grateful that he did. One song in particular has me sobbing and gasping, really making me a total mess, every time I hear it. It’s her version of Fields of Gold. It’s not just the words it’s the sincerity of them. The feeling she puts behind them, the sound of her voice is simply celestial, giving such significance to already meaningful lyrics. So I cry and hold my baby close, put my husband’s arms around me and sway and then tell him…..play it again.
If you could see any music act from history, who would you pick? Post-a-Day 2011
