I’ve spent the last hour or so researching how to create a kick-ass CV/resume and was totally overwhelmed by the amount of information I found. You see, my husband and I are working together to try to find a way outta’ here. We’re looking for greener pastures and thicker wallets and Italy, although beautiful and rich in culture and history, is a just a big old boot in much need of repair when it comes to economy. It’s nearly impossible to make anything of yourself here, to climb the financial ladder. The rich stay rich and the poor stay poor and it’s worse than any employment scenario I ever saw in America. So just go to work happy tomorrow knowing that you’ll get paid overtime if you work it and regular raises because that’s not happening here. Sigh. Ok, got that off my chest. I was saying, we’re looking for a better life and we’ve started the search online. My job is really just promoting my husband since I’m a stay-at-home-mom. I write my blog to gain some experience so that I might one day apply for a position with a magazine, paper, or online source but for now I help him. It’s turning out to be pretty time-consuming considering I only work the few hours I’ve got between putting my little down and laying down myself but it’s worth it. I will try anything if it means putting us closer to our goals. I thought starting with the CV/resume would be best. I figured I’d skim a few articles, find a template and just apply everything that’s in the old one to a new format. I now know that there’s a lot more pressure on standing out when sending your credentials off and I’m worried that I won’t show my hubby in the best possible light. I looked up the costs of those CV writing services and, holy baby Jesus, it’s pricey! Anywhere from $100-$500! No can do, so what I MUST do is revise it myself. Yay. I guess if it turns out great and starts bringing in loads of interviews I can hire out my services and make a killing! Oh she’s a crafty one ;o)
